Metal

The large variety of metal artifacts in this specific genre requires a continuous flow of information to the students of this discipline on the rich heritage of the artistic methods, properties of metal, possibilities offered by different techniques and technologies for creating just any work of art, from miniature to monumental. In Metal there are four specialized studios for BA students in hot and cold metal processing, jewellery, medals, coin design, heraldics, and design of metal works of art for built architecture and natural environment. Every week, the students spend there 12 hours, of which 6 are alotted to the study of metal and the other 6, to composition. The tuition is done by out-standing experts in the field. In the four years of study the students are also taught drawing and scale-modeling from nature, history of art, anatomy, perspective, combining skills, architecture, nature of symbols and other related subjects.
The MA curriculum incorporates three terms and seven disciplines, plus a preparatory period for diploma work. There are altogether 1575 hours of tuition. BA and MA degree holders in Metal can work as artists and designers for different applications of metal and to create objects of art, as well as for decoration. They are entitled to teaching in high and higher schools, to doing research, and to occupying leading posts in factories and companies specializing in processing of metal for artistic purposes.
