Porcelain and Glass

BA degree holders in Porcelain and Glass are educated as artists in the design of porcelain and glass. Their curriculum incorporates the lectures jointly attended by all students of the academy, to allow them to acquire comprehensive knowledge and skills that they could adequately use in modern artistic processes, as well as the specific knowledge and skills to allow them to solve most complicated problems of artistic design and turn the designed products over to industry. Their tuition aims at searching for new artistic and structural solutions taking into consideration the properties of material; it also aims at widening the scope of technological and aesthetic possibilities offered by those materials. This discipline is the only one in Bulgaria, which educates artists highly qualified to work for designer and industrial workshops for porcelain, fine ceramics and glass. Artists who have opted to study pedagogy can also teach in high schools. BA degree holders are fully qualified to start their own artistic practice.

MA degree allows for further development and enrichment of the knowledge and skills accumulated on the BA course. The expertise would be used in coping with comprehensive and complex tasks, with the focus on expressing the artist's own individuality and style. The task requires innovative aesthetic vision, artistic concepts and creative approaches to the application of traditional techniques and technologies. Research ability would be essential for the study of interaction of porcelain and glass with other materials, as well as their effect on the environment through the new trends, styles and technologies.MA degree holders are entitled to working free-lance, as experts, heads of designer teams and/or institutes. They can teach in higher schools and take leading posts in the state administration.
